About

Working from home, or working for yourself, means you’re the one choosing the chair you sit in all day, the webcam your clients see you through, and the software that keeps your business running. That’s a lot of decisions — and a lot of marketing to wade through.

TheDeskLedger exists to make those decisions easier. We publish clear, research-based buying guides and comparisons for two groups of people:

  • Remote and hybrid workers who want a comfortable, professional home office — desks, chairs, monitors, webcams, headsets, lighting and the small accessories that make a big difference.
  • Solo business owners and freelancers who need practical tools — email marketing, websites and hosting, online stores, CRM, security and productivity apps — without enterprise prices or complexity.

How we research

Research-based, not hands-on tested: We haven’t personally tested the products and services we recommend. Our picks are based on research into manufacturer specs, expert reviews, and verified customer feedback.

We want to be upfront about how our guides are made. Our reviews and comparisons are research-based, not hands-on tested. For each guide we:

  • Compare official specifications, warranties and plan limits from manufacturers’ and software companies’ own websites.
  • Read and weigh the findings of reputable independent reviewers and testing publications.
  • Look at patterns in owner and customer feedback — what people consistently praise or complain about after living with a product.
  • Organize everything around who a product is actually best for, with honest trade-offs, so you can match a pick to your situation.
  • Revisit and update guides when products, prices or plans change.

When we say a product is good for something, we’ll tell you why and where that information comes from. When we’re not sure, we’ll say so.

Who’s behind TheDeskLedger

Hi, I’m the founder of The Desk Ledger. I’ve spent more than 30 years in sales and operations leadership across the media industry, and I’ve run my own business too. Being on both sides taught me to judge tools on what really matters: whether they make the work easier, grow with you, and pay for themselves.

I started The Desk Ledger to bring that same practical lens to office gear and software for small businesses, and to home office gear for people who work from home. I don’t personally test every product. Instead, each guide is built on careful research into specs, pricing, expert reviews, and real user feedback, so you can make a confident choice without wading through the noise.
